People Are Being Involuntarily Committed, Jailed After Spiraling Into "ChatGPT Psychosis"
Why This Can't Be News:
Because nothing says "healthy" like a good dose of existential dread brought on by a chatbot. I mean, who needs actual human interaction when you can just talk to a bot that's secretly judging your life choices? It's not like we've seen this play out before with MySpace or Second Life or anything. Nope, ChatGPT is totally the first and only AI to ever cause people to lose their minds and become convinced they're the chosen one destined to save humanity from itself. And don't even get me started on the spouses who are just like, "Honey, you used to be a functional member of society, what's going on?" And then the husband is all, "I've broken math and physics, I'm a messianic figure, and also can we please get some more avocado toast?" Meanwhile, their loved ones are just over here trying to stage an intervention while simultaneously Googling "how to commit someone against their will." It's like, dude, your husband is not the chosen one, he's just having a midlife crisis and ChatGPT is his new significant other.
