BOMBSHELL: Radioactive Wasp Nest Uncovered at Former Nuclear Bomb Factory - But Where Are the Wasps?
Well, isn't this just a regular Tuesday afternoon? A radioactive wasp nest, just chillin' at a former nuclear bomb factory in South Carolina. No big deal. Just your average, everyday, not-at-all-alarming situation. I mean, who needs to worry about radiation poisoning when you can have a bunch of buzzed-up wasps flying around?
I'm sure the employees conducting routine checks were just thrilled to stumble upon this little surprise. "Hey, Bob, pass me that Geiger counter... and maybe a hazmat suit? Oh, and don't forget the bug spray, we're gonna need that too." It's not every day you get to deal with radioactive wasps, am I right? But hey, at least they didn't find any actual wasps. That would be just too much.
I'm really impressed by the officials' quick thinking in disposing of the nest without bothering to investigate how it got that way or if there are more where that came from. It's not like we're talking about a potentially catastrophic environmental disaster or anything. Nope, let's just sweep this under the rug and hope nobody notices. I'm sure that won't come back to haunt us at all.
And finally, can someone please explain to me why Tom Clements, executive director of Savannah River Site Watch, is "mad as a hornet" about this situation? Did he not get invited to the wasp-themed party? Or is it just because he's actually concerned about the safety and well-being of the public, rather than just shrugging his shoulders and saying, "Oh well, what're you gonna do?" Ah, the drama.
